GOOD times....

we had a very nice turnout on saturday. thanks to all those who stopped by. house is still standing...no holes in the walls...nobody fell off the roof terrace or in the pond. no fights....
GOOD times.

amazing thing is..many of the neighbors dropped by to introduce themselves...and to let us know how much they love the house. thats great and all but kind of disappointing because we dont have any stories to tell of protests with people chanting no gas stations or office buildings in their neighborhood. nobody had to move away because they get sick everytime they drive by...nothing. just "wow...we love it" thats no fun.

more pics soon.

time to party........

02.28.08

well...we would like to celebrate being almost finished with the house. still countless trim issues, details, paint touchups, few doors, landscaping, millwork, lights, etc.....but those things will never go away. so if you live in the area - DFW TX - then stop by for an open house/party.

if you can make it please let me know .... chill@studiomud.com i will forward directions if needed.

garage.......

well...here it is....

for a long time we tried to get the city to let us do away with the garage requirements. no deal. city requires a minimum 2 car garage of some odd s.f. NO carports although there are several next to me that have them. there is no maximum size of garage needed. i inquired about putting a 10 car garage in the back and the guys at the city thought that would be ‘awesome’. another annoying thing about it is that if i cut down the trees in the back and put a long drive and slab behind the house then i don’t have to have anything at all. also cant have a linear tandem garage either...so this is what we came up with. don’t have any budget for it so tried to do something that had a modicum of integrity. Simple painted exposed studs, wrapped with white chloroplast, 1” strips of the last massaranduba scraps, and a block wall in front to try and screen it from the street and connect it to the house. Chester Reed (mason) hooked me up with the wall this week and I will work on some drawings for him. Good trade. Looks fantastic at night with the lights on….

only took two days for utility company to come out and put on the meter and hook up the house. RECORD. however it did take 3 frustrating days back and forth calling different power companies...blah blah blah. now i can take some nightshots. mmmmmmmmmmmm.

GOT IT...with caveats

FANTASTIC......had final inspection today. PASS...kinda sorta. there a few things that we need to finish. detached garage being the major item however we can go ahead and get the power and gas hooked up. most small touch up things will be done later when we hit the lotto. for now she is almost finished. good day.
